250 years ago today, on August 18, 1775, Paul Revere and his fellow
messengers of the Committee of Correspondence successfully alarmed and
mobilized thousands of Massachusetts patriots and their associated
militias to thwart the British Army's attempted arrest of John Hancock
and Sam Adams in Lexington, and the seizure of militia munition stores
in Concord. The following day, April 19th, saw what has become known
as "the shot heard 'round the world" beginning the American
Revolution.
The successful outcome of our Revolution and the subsequent
building of the American Republic established the proof of principle
which, in the words of John Quincy Adams, "...demolished at a stroke
the lawfulness of all governments founded upon conquest. It swept away
all the rubbish of accumulated centuries of servitude." Over the past
decades, that critical global role of United States in combating
colonial exploitation and federalism has been so undermined and erased
by a corrupt Anglo-American establishment that few Americans today
even know anything about it!
This Friday, I will be joined by renowned historian and author
Anton Chaitkin who has just released the second volume of his ongoing
work Who We Are: America's Fight for Universal Progress for a
fascinating discussion of how we can now return our nation to that
noble mission.
