How much longer will we let this go on before our democracy moves further and further from us?

John, I was in Arizona at a town hall over the weekend because we must hold our representatives accountable.

Here’s what I told the audience in the packed room in Tucson:

I want to sound an alarm. We are not in normal times in America. And I say that because the Republicans are in control of the House and the Senate, and they have abdicated their constitutional responsibilities to check the presidency.

We have not, in the Senate, had oversight hearings on a tariff plan — and I say plan very loosely. We haven’t had one oversight hearing on what is perhaps the most galling national security intelligence break  — Signalgate. That is so outrageous that both sides should say: we need some accountability here, we need some answers here.

We have the wealthiest man on Planet Earth who has significant investments in the government. His fortune has been made in large part because of government agencies. He was under investigation by multiple government agencies, and he has already gone through and cut the very people who provide the investigations and accountability, like inspectors general, over him. And we have not called this man in for one hearing in the Senate to ask commonsense questions: What are you doing with the private information that you are scraping out of the agencies of the American people?

How much longer will we let this go on before our democracy moves further and further from us?

The alarm bells are ringing — and I need you to step up and take action.

I’m going to continue traveling around the country, and your support helps me reach voters in every corner of our country. We won’t leave anyone behind.

If you can, will you pitch in to help me continue mobilizing voters across the United States to join the fights ahead?
