Hey, John!

Welcome back to What’s Happening with When We All Vote! Spring is in full swing, and you know what else is blooming? The polls! April has the second-highest number of local elections this year, and voters across the country are turning out to make their voices heard.

To kick off the month, we saw record-breaking voter turnout in Wisconsin — including the highest turnout for a Wisconsin Supreme Court election in history. Later this month in Florida, some cities are choosing their next mayor. In Mississippi and Minnesota, voters will fill open state Senate seats that will shape their states’ budgets, taxes, and more. And in South Carolina, folks in North Augusta are heading to the polls to elect their mayor and city council members. And those are just a few of the more than 38,000 seats on the ballot in April.

Not sure if you're registered to vote? Take a minute to check your voter registration — make sure you're ready when it's your turn at the ballot box [[link removed]].

Now, let’s take a look at what we’ve been up to:

🌟 Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the SAVE Act, and now the bill heads to the Senate. This bill could impact millions of Americans who don’t have easy access to citizenship documents like a birth certificate or passport. The bill would shut down online, mail-in, and automatic voter registration nationwide and make it harder for organizations like When We All Vote to help people register to vote and make their voices heard. With the SAVE Act, millions of women, voters of color, young people, trans voters, and rural voters could face new obstacles just to participate in our democracy.

More than 6,000 people have taken action with us — but we need more voices. Take five minutes to call or email your Senators today and urge them to vote NO on this harmful legislation [[link removed]].

🌟 Our 15 My School Votes Advisory Fellows are here and ready to hit the ground running! This incredible group of young leaders is fired up and focused on making real change in their communities. From organizing locally to building power nationally, they bring fresh energy, bold ideas, and a deep commitment to our future. Want to get to know the faces behind the movement? Head over to the My School Votes Instagram and meet the fellows [[link removed]]. We are so excited to have them on the team!

John, we know the nonstop news cycle and constant attacks on our communities can feel overwhelming and exhausting — but democracy only works when we all participate. Keep the conversations going with your friends and family about what’s at stake, and keep pushing forward — because the power of the people will always be greater than the people in power.

Til next time,
— Beth
