Rubio acknowledges it might not be possible to end Russia's war on Ukraine

The first part is not surprising — it’s the second part that is important here.

Anyone with a basic connection to reality knew that Trump wouldn’t bring peace. He’s Russia’s puppet. Whatever “peace” he tried to bring was at the expense of Ukrainian land, Ukrainian natural resources, and Ukrainian lives — and to Russia’s benefit. Whatever “ceasefire” they worked towards was always going to be on Russia’s terms, and never for Ukraine’s long-term security.

Even that wasn’t good enough for Russia. They’re not at the negotiating table. They’re not even in the room. They’re launching missiles at Ukrainian cities, schools, and hospitals. They’re killing Ukrainian troops at the frontlines.

Nevertheless, Trump said he’d solve this. Trump promised a peace deal on “Day One” of his presidency. Instead, he’s completely and utterly failed. His incompetence and that of his administration has only further emboldened our adversaries. Our allies no longer question our commitment to the cause — they’re moving on without us.

Trump has made all of us less safe, and gained nothing in return.

Trump might be giving up, but the American people are not. VoteVets is not. You, we’re sure, are not. We are in this for the long haul, and we’re going to do everything we can to make sure Trump and the Republican Party pay for what they’ve done.
