Spring Reminder: Help Keep Roadside Areas Safe and Maintained
Diagram of tree and shrub maintenance zone [ [link removed] ]

As spring growth kicks in, Kitsap County Public Works reminds property owners that you are responsible for maintaining landscaping and vegetation in the public right of way adjacent to your property—typically the area between the sidewalk and the road.

This includes:

* Weeding, mulching, and replacing plants
* Pruning shrubs and trees for safety and visibility
* Keeping sidewalks and ditches clear of vegetation and debris

If overgrowth becomes a safety issue, County road crews may step in to mow or prune—using equipment that does not preserve plant shape or type. You can learn more about the County’s roadside vegetation responsibilities by visiting kcowa.us/RoadMaint [ [link removed] ]. For specific guidelines, refer to Section 3.8.5 of the Kitsap County Road Standards [ [link removed] ].
