Garlic Mustard is one of many invasive plant species threatening native grassland habitats and the birds that rely on them at Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Did you know that Garlic Mustard's roots release chemicals that alter the important underground network of fungi that connect native plants and allow nutrient sharing, inhibiting the growth of important native species? Luckily it can be easily removed - but there is a lot of it! Join us on Saturday, April 26 at Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Woodbridge. Upon arrival, volunteers will meet USFWS Visitor Services Specialist, Gabriela (Gabby) Youngken, in the Main Parking Lot (not at the Visitor Information Center.) No experience required. Sign up here.
