Confined day after day, night after night to a small, barren stall in a barn with concrete flooring and no soft substrate to stand or lie on.
And for years before that, forced to perform tricks and give rides under threat of a bullhook. This is the life of Minnie the elephant, held captive for decades in a traveling circus in Connecticut called the Commerford Zoo.
Last month we asked you to contact the Commerford Zoo to advocate for Minnie’s freedom. Now we’re asking you to send a message to the USDA, urging it to use its authority to conduct an emergency inspection of the Commerford Zoo and relocate Minnie to an accredited elephant sanctuary. Send your message using this form.
