Why we are 350: Scientists overwhelmingly agree that 350ppm CO2 is the upper limit to sustain life as humans have lived it. For more than 800,000 years atmospheric CO2 varied between roughly 180 to 280ppm.

   Our Earth passed 350ppm CO2 during 1988!

Mauna Loa Observatory - We are now approaching 430ppm!
On many days we're up 1.6 to 2.5ppm from last year
The U.S. Congress is in recess from April 12 to 27.

Cleanup
Last but not least, we wanted to find a way to give back – and here in America’s Dairyland, we take pride in our communities and supporting each other. In the spirit of leaving things better than we found them, we ask that you bring a garbage bag) and gloves to the protest with you.

Please pick up any trash you see nearby during the event and on the walk back to your cars afterwards. Our goal is to make this county better in any way we can. Keeping our communities clean and leaving no trace after events is a great way to show the our country and representatives that we’re serious about improving the lives of Americans – even if our elected officials aren’t!

Bring a Friend!

Guidelines

  • Do not hang, attach, or affix signs to fencing on/along the overpass in any fashion
  • Do not throw anything from the overpass
  • Do not block traffic
  • Do not behave rudely to motorists – no obscene or inappropriate gestures should be made

REMEMBER: You may have the opportunity to convince opposition to protest with us!! They care about Medicare and Social Security too (They pay into it)! Spread Love, Not Hate, THIS IS THE GOAL!

  • Stay on the sidewalk
  • Park in legal street parking nearby, and only park on the overpass itself if there is city-designated parking
  • Obey traffic laws and be aware of your surrounds when crossing streets and walking to the overpass
  • One to two marshals will be present on each overpass – marshals will be designated by fluorescent vests.
  • In Milwaukee, The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s department is aware of this protest and is coordinating with us – do not be alarmed if you see a sheriff or police officer present. We encourage other locations to consult with their local law enforcement as well.
  • This is a peaceful protest! Do not acknowledge instigators – let a marshal know if someone is suggesting or promoting violence or other discouraged actions (such as throwing items off of the overpass, or antagonizing drivers/pedestrians). If someone is being disruptive, please film them if you are comfortable doing so.
  • Leave our communities better than we found them, so please pick up any trash you see in the general area after the protest as well as on the walk back to your car.
  • Last but not least – have fun!! Bring big, colorful, bold, signs that support causes close to your heart. We encourage the use of American flags and red, white, and blue – lets show everyone what American ideals are really about!
