| | Martin D. “Art” Walsh, founder of the Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley & Walsh, P.C. law firm, played a crucial role in many developments that define Arlington’s built environment to this day. A Northern Virginia native and a 1962 graduate of Bishop O’Connell High School, Art founded the firm in 1983 following a decade in private practice. Art specialized in urban planning, zoning and land development for projects throughout the region, but particularly in Arlington. He achieved approval for Courthouse Plaza, the Medstar Capitals Iceplex, the Boeing Corporate Headquarters, multiple sites in Pentagon City, and 3.7 million square feet of development in the Potomac Yard neighborhood. Beyond our county, he was a pivotal player in the replanning and easement cases for the Silver Line and I-495 HOT lanes expansions. Art was consistently recognized for his legal success, being named as one of Washington’s Top Lawyers in Washingtonian magazine in 2017, and one of the Best Lawyers in America, Real Estate Law: Land Use and Zoning, from 2005 to 2019.
