** Announcing guest speakers for March for Life 2025 - more names to follow!
------------------------------------------------------------
We’re delighted to share with readers of Vital Signs two of the guest speakers for this year’s March for Life: Senator Sarah O’Reilly of Aontú and Ruth O’Sullivan from Cork, whose video about her abortion story has garnered over 100,000 views in the past 5 days alone on the PLC Facebook page. Stay tuned as we’ll be announcing more guest speakers in the coming days!
The March for Life on Bank Holiday Monday (5th May) is our chance to unite with our pro- life Oireachtas members to send a very clear message to the Government that we expect to see urgent action taken to address Ireland’s skyrocketing abortion numbers. The appalling situation at present of women being kept in the dark about positive alternatives prior to an abortion, has to end.
It will only end however if enough pressure mounts. Change happens when people show up! We are really counting on you to make an extra special effort to be present this year. It’s going to be an incredible family friendly and impactful event!

** The Journal’s very selective “investigative” reports on abortion
------------------------------------------------------------
Recently, Journal.ie has featured a series of “investigative” reports about the fact that some Irish women still travel to England for abortions.
The purpose of the series is painfully obvious - to create the impression that abortion in Ireland remains very restrictive and that the law needs further loosening.
With their attention grabbing headlines, Journal.ie makes no attempt whatsoever to inform the public about the true scale of the horror under Ireland’s new abortion regime, where over 10,000 abortions now take place annually, up from under 3,000 abortions in 2018, and where some babies are surviving the abortion procedure in Irish hospitals and being left to die alone and unaided without receiving any medical care.

** Florida sees 12,000 fewer abortions following 6-week ban
------------------------------------------------------------
The number of abortions performed in Florida dropped by over 12,000 in 2024 following the implementation of the state’s 6-week abortion ban in 2023.
According to data from the Guttmacher Institute, approximately 73,710 abortions occurred in Florida in 2024, compared to 85,770 the previous year. The new law prohibits most abortions after six weeks of pregnancy.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the bill, known as the ‘heartbeat law’ in April 2023.
A legal challenge to the state’s prior 15-week abortion restriction, filed by Planned Parenthood in 2022, was ultimately rejected by the Florida Supreme Court, clearing the path for the stricter 6-week ban to take effect.
