Today, gunshots rang out on my campus at Florida State University. As of this moment, we know that at least two people were shot and killed, and six others were wounded.
For hours, law enforcement cleared our campus one building at a time, while my classmates and I sheltered in place.
Many of us were just beginning to study for finals. Seniors who are on the verge of graduating were just trying to enjoy their last moments on campus.
I joined Students Demand Action because guns are the number one killer of my generation. And this moment is exactly why.
The shooting on my campus today traumatized more than 44,000 students at Florida State—and it's already the 18th shooting on a college campus in 2025, and the 81st mass shooting of the year.
I don't know how long until campus reopens, or when we will be able to return to classes, but I will keep fighting for a future free from gun violence when this is over.
I hope that you join me, friend
