Hey team, it’s Ruben.
I’ve been doing town halls across Arizona over the last two months. To me, it’s one of the most important parts of the job.
This has been a part of my time in public life ever since I first got elected. Last summer, when it was well over 100 degrees every day, I was out there in communities meeting people face-to-face. I’d often talk to people that disagreed with me, and when I did I’d still take the time to listen.
That’s why I’m going out there. It’s not about scoring political points. It’s what is demanded of you. And it really bothers me that Republicans are ramming through a budget that’s going to lower taxes on billionaires and destroy programs that millions of regular folks depend on to pay for it. All while Trump’s making billions and running the most corrupt administration in history.
That’s the explicit position of the National Republican Party today — and most of their leaders aren’t even willing to go back to the people they represent to answer for it.
As for me, I have a town hall on the Yavapai-Apache Nation Reservation today, and another out in Flagstaff tomorrow. I’ve been out there. I’ll continue to be out there.
I owe the people of Arizona that.
Thanks for having my back. I will never forget that I’m serving in the Senate because of you and thousands of other supporters. It means a lot to me.
Semper Fi,
Ruben
