Take Actions that Matter! |
Hi John — During this difficult time, we hope you are finding comfort in community and taking meaningful action that will make a difference for others and yourself, too! Here are some suggestions for actions that matter: |
There are a number of protests in and around Morris County. |
| |
The Chester Democrats are organizing a peaceful gathering in front of the offices of LD-24 State Senator Parker Space and State Assembly members Dawn Fantasia and Mike Inganamort at 191 Main Street in Chester. They advise: No banners, speakers/megaphones, tables, or other non-mobile items are allowed, but please bring signs you can carry! |
Across Morris County, dozens of candidates have stepped up to run for office! We are competing in 70% of races, which is amazing in a county that is still majority Red. We are especially grateful to see candidates in towns that are tough territory and fully Republican controlled. Please consider getting involved in your community to volunteer with those campaigns. Here is the list of the Municipal Committees.
Downtime with like-minded friends is important, too! Take a break from headlines at the monthly Dems Night Out, hosted by Christine Clarke, on Thursday, April 17, at 6:30 p.m., at Hops Craft Bar in Morristown. Also, Christine is seeking feedback on rebooting the event and the best path forward for it. Please spend a few minutes providing your input. Survey.

RAISE FUNDS FOR OUR CANDIDATES |
We helped Senator Andy Kim in his race last year, with grassroots support. Now, he’s back to help our candidates! Join us to raise a glass with Senator Kim at Jersey Girl Brewery on Thursday, April 24, at 6 p.m., for our first fundraiser of the year! The evening includes a BBQ dinner (with vegetarian options), two drink tickets for beer/seltzer, and a chance to chat with Senator Kim. |
PUT PRESSURE ON REPUBLICANS |
We won’t allow Congressman Tom Kean to dodge questions and his own constituents. This week’s “Finding Kean Friday” is on! There’ll be a Rally at the Bernardsville Train Station at 12 p.m., but no visit to the District Office because it’s closed for Good Friday. |
| |
Mark Your Calendar: Next Friday, April 25, the group is partnering with Moms Demand Action for a bigger rally and a short walk to Kean’s Office. The topic is gun safety and opposing the federal Concealed Carry Mandate. Sign the petition. |

SCIENCE MISINFORMATION IN POLITICS |
This Sunday, the Morris County Democrats and the Morris County Progressive Caucus are hosting State Senator Andrew Zwicker for a presentation on Science Misinformation in Politics.
In addition to being a State Senator, Senator Zwicker is also a Ph.D. physicist who heads the Science Education Department of the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory. His unique expertise in both politics and science gives him many valuable insights into how to have tough conversations about science misinformation. |

Finally, we are so lucky to have professional photographer John Hester capture the excitement of our events, from campaign launches to big rallies! Most recently, he took photos at the March 8th “Rally for Our Rights” to celebrate International Women’s Day and the “Hands Off” rally, which drew an estimated crowd of around 4,000 to Morristown!
If you missed out, take a look at our photo galleries featuring John’s extraordinary work. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and his photos give meaning to that expression. Through his lens, you can feel the anger, fear and also hope felt by participants at both events.
John’s talent, paired with a humble attitude and quiet demeanor, makes his contributions to the Morris County Democratic Committee that much more appreciated! |
