We’re in a crisis moment for the future of free speech. The federal government is threatening media outlets over their editorial decisions, social media platforms are being investigated for how they moderate users’ online speech, and funding has been stripped (or threatened) for essential news services, press freedom groups, universities, research labs and other cultural institutions because they purportedly express views disfavored by the Administration.
CDT’s Free Expression team has been quickly responding — and we need your support for the work ahead.
Following the President’s Executive Order entitled “Restoring Freedom of Speech and Ending Federal Censorship,” CDT was swift to point out how the Administration’s actions violate the principles of free speech. Since then, we’ve been:
