May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and this year, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is focusing on the topic of resilience, through the campaign, “In This Together: Building Emotional Resilience in Ourselves and Our Communities.”
As the largest private funder of suicide prevention research, with local chapters in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, AFSP itself has to remain resilient: we can’t continue our mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide without your help.
With this in mind, we are inviting you to play a much-needed role in our month-long Million in May fundraising initiative, in which we seek to raise one million dollars to keep making an impact on communities through advocacy, education and loss support programs, and so much more.
Suicide is a leading cause of death that affects us all. It has been estimated that for every individual lost to suicide, 135 people are affected. For that reason, we ask you to consider making a gift of $135 to help reach our goal.
We are in this together in the fight to stop suicide and provide care and support to those affected. Just $135 will help us reach a Million in May.
