Hi friend, my name is Anderson Clayton and I’m the Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party (also a former organizer in Iowa)!

I’m reaching out because there’s an ongoing case in my state that’s undermining the will of voters, and this unprecedented attack won’t just harm North Carolina, but our democracy nationwide.

I’m going to explain in more detail, but can I count on your support with a split donation between the North Carolina Democratic Party and the Iowa Democratic Party to make sure our democracy stands tall?

Judge Jefferson Griffin lost his seat to North Carolina Justice Allison Riggs by 734 votes last November. And rather than concede, Griffin, backed by the Republican Party, has filed sweeping legal challenges attempting to discard tens of thousands of ballots.

On Friday, The North Carolina Supreme Court's Republican majority issued a ruling that at first seemed like a victory. They ruled that over 60,000 of the 65,000+ challenged ballots would be counted, but critically, enough military and overseas voters' ballots are still being challenged to potentially change the outcome of the election.

They issued a special order demanding new documentation from overseas and military voters who registered in specific Democratic-leaning counties, while voters in counties that favored Republicans are left untouched. Members of our military serve our country overseas and helped our mountain communities recover from Hurricane Helene, and this is how Republicans thank them?

If Republicans are challenging votes because they lost an election here, it can happen anywhere.

Battleground states like North Carolina and Iowa — where Democrats have a chance to flip red seats blue — are ground zero for attacks on our democracy. We can’t let this become the new norm.

The NCDP and IDP are working hard to fight anti-democracy attacks on the ground, in the legislature, and in the courts, but this work requires many resources. That’s why I’m personally asking: Will you chip in a split donation between the North Carolina Democratic Party and the Iowa Democratic Party to make sure democracy prevails?
