Republicans just passed a new bill called the “SAVE Act” which is really just dressed-up and blatant voter suppression.

We’ve seen this playbook before, and we won’t allow Republicans to change the rules so they’re never voted out. Republicans are using this bill and their unfounded fears to push their extremism.

This bill would require anyone registering to vote to produce documents like a passport or birth certificate, while over 100 million Americans don’t have a passport, and millions of Americans have changed their last name when they got married.

As many as 69 million American women have taken their spouses last name – which means their name no longer matches their birth certificates. This bill would disenfranchise: * Those who changed their last name when they married,
* people who have changed their names to escape stalking or domestic violence,
* adoptees,
* And thousands of others

This is blatant voter suppression and an attempt to disenfranchise countless Americans – when our most recent presidential elections have only been won by 1 or 2%. Republicans are trying to stack the deck, but we won’t let them.
