Email from Massachusetts Republican Party     MassGOP Spring Update   Friends, April has been an energizing month for the MassGOP as we charge ahead toward the 2026 elections and celebrate key victories in local races. From municipal offices to federal and statewide campaigns, we’ve been working around the clock to recruit and train strong Republican candidates at every level. Along the way, we’ve hosted exciting events that are sparking real momentum—and we haven’t hesitated to hold Massachusetts Democrats accountable for their repeated failures. We’re proud of the progress we’re making, and we’re excited to share it with you. Communications: In March, the MassGOP issued a blistering press release condemning Governor Maura Healey for her hypocrisy, political posturing, and misleading claims during a recent interview. We called out the Governor for weaponizing state funding while accusing others of doing the same, spreading falsehoods about the migrant crisis, and stonewalling transparency on shelter data. The release also underscored how Healey’s national political ambitions have taken precedence over the needs of Massachusetts residents—leaving taxpayers to foot the bill for her failed policies and lack of accountability. Also in early March, the MassGOP took aim at Boston Mayor Michelle Wu for her stunning lack of transparency during her testimony before Congress in defense of sanctuary city policies. While other mayors provided data, Wu admitted that Boston doesn’t even track how many illegal immigrants are in the city or how much taxpayer money is being spent on them. Chair Amy Carnevale slammed this secrecy as a betrayal of Boston taxpayers, pointing to serious concerns about mismanagement and misplaced priorities. The MassGOP pledged to keep demanding answers and accountability for the true cost of these dangerous policies. We criticized Governor Maura Healey for refusing to replace $12.2 million in federal funding that supported locally sourced school meals—despite her administration spending nearly $1 billion annually on the migrant crisis. Chair Amy Carnevale condemned the decision as a betrayal of Massachusetts schoolchildren, local farmers, and public schools, pointing to the Governor’s misplaced priorities and financial mismanagement. While over 200 school districts face cuts to healthy meal programs, Healey continues to pour hundreds of millions into emergency housing for migrants. The MassGOP is demanding that the Governor immediately restore the lost funding and put Massachusetts families first. Following Mayor Michelle Wu’s 2025 State of the City Address, the MassGOP sharply criticized her record, calling Boston a “progressive experiment gone wrong.” Chair Amy Carnevale condemned Wu’s leadership for escalating crime in Boston Common, pushing an unpopular White Stadium redevelopment that limits student access, and worsening traffic with bike lane expansions. Carnevale accused Wu of misleading residents on taxes, spending $650,000 to avoid transparency on sanctuary policies, and growing the city budget by over 15% while threatening tax hikes. The MassGOP vowed to keep fighting for public safety, fiscal responsibility, and a Boston that serves all residents—not just City Hall insiders. The MassGOP also praised a major ICE-led operation, spearheaded by Border Czar Tom Homan, that resulted in the arrest of 205 illegal immigrants with serious criminal records—including charges of murder, child sexual abuse, and drug trafficking. Chair Carnevale applauded the effort for making Massachusetts safer, while slamming Governor Healey and Mayor Wu for their dangerous sanctuary city policies. Their refusal to cooperate with federal authorities, Carnevale said, allows violent offenders to remain in communities. “Public safety is not political—it’s common sense,” she said. The MassGOP remains firmly committed to backing law enforcement and protecting families. Following yet another spin-filled interview, Governor Healey once again showed her contradictions. She claimed Massachusetts isn’t a sanctuary state and insisted she has “no problem” with ICE arrests—yet continues to uphold policies that block cooperation with federal authorities. Chair Carnevale pointed to the release of over 200 criminal illegal immigrants due to the state's sanctuary stance and criticized Healey’s broken housing promises, spiraling costs from the migrant crisis, and hypocrisy on energy policy. “She’s a savvy politician—but a terrible executive,” Carnevale said. The MassGOP reaffirmed its support for candidates who prioritize public safety and fiscal responsibility. In a more forward-looking announcement, the MassGOP welcomed news that former Finance Chair Mike Kennealy is running for Governor in 2026. With Massachusetts at a critical crossroads—facing years of reckless spending, rising taxes, surging energy costs, and a mismanaged migrant crisis—the press release emphasized the need for new leadership rooted in common sense and fiscal responsibility. We expressed optimism about the strong Republican candidate stepping up to restore stability and prosperity to the Commonwealth. In a recent press release, the Massachusetts Republican Party called on Lisa Field, Democratic candidate for State Representative in the 3rd Bristol District, to be transparent with voters about her extensive career as a registered lobbyist. Executive Director John Milligan pointed out that Field has been concealing her lobbying role, despite earning over $273,000 since 2016 and being listed 36 times with the Secretary of the Commonwealth. The MassGOP is demanding that Field update her campaign materials to reflect her lobbying income and publicly acknowledge her history as a lobbyist, highlighting concerns about her potential conflicts of interest and loyalty to special interests rather than the public. In our latest press release, the Massachusetts Republican Party called on the Massachusetts Democratic Party to demand the immediate resignation of State Representative Chris Flanagan, who was arrested this week on federal fraud charges. Flanagan is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from his former employer to finance his political campaign and cover personal expenses, including his mortgage, credit cards, and even luxury items. MassGOP Chairwoman Amy Carnevale pointed out that this is not the first time Flanagan’s actions have been called into question, citing earlier campaign finance violations. The MassGOP also highlighted that Flanagan’s arrest is part of a troubling pattern of misconduct within the Massachusetts Democratic Party, including recent fraud charges against Boston City Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson and the arrest of a high-ranking MassDems operative. The party urged the Democratic leadership to demonstrate accountability by calling for Flanagan’s resignation and restoring integrity in public service. Earlier this month, MassGOP Chair Amy Carnevale sat down with Matt Prichard of NBC 10 to discuss the future of the Massachusetts Republican Party. In the wide-ranging interview, she laid out the party’s bold vision and strategic roadmap heading into 2026. Topics included: ✅ Optimism around 2026 electoral opportunities ✅ Momentum in traditionally Democratic cities shifting to the right ✅ Republican gains in the State House ✅ The importance of enforcing ICE deportations and restoring law and order ✅ The MassGOP’s plan to challenge Governor Healey’s failed leadership If you missed it, be sure to catch the full interview on NBC 10 HERE.   Help Us Get Our Message Out!
