PFAW Member,

Following weeks of nationwide protests over the murder of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and others as a result of anti-Black police violence, Congressional Democrats have taken an important first step in addressing the need for systemic reforms to policing. While state and local officials determine what will work best in their communities, it is the responsibility of our federal government to set a standard for justice, anti-racist policing, and safety in America.

Sign the petition urging Congress to reform policing by passing the Justice in Policing Act!>>

The Justice in Policing Act takes some important initial steps to reform policing in the United States, including1:

  • Prohibiting federal, state, and local law enforcement from racial, religious, and discriminatory profiling for all law enforcement.
  • Setting a national use of force standard
  • Banning chokeholds, carotid holds and no-knock warrants at the federal level
  • Establishing a National Police Misconduct Registry to prevent problematic officers who are fired or leave an agency from moving to another jurisdiction without any accountability.
  • Establishing a Department of Justice task force to coordinate the investigation, prosecution and enforcement of efforts of federal, state and local governments in cases related to law enforcement misconduct.

These reforms alone won’t provide all the necessary changes to end anti-Black police violence and dismantle white supremacy within our justice system and society, but as we continue advocating for these and other reforms, it’s clear the voices of the thousands of protestors across the country are being heard by elected officials.

Show your support for these important reforms while we continue urging elected officials across the country to deepen their commitments and efforts to end anti-Black police violence>>

Help build on the momentum of thousands of activists and protestors across the country and begin the long and hard work of not only reforming policing in the United States, but dismantling and reforming other institutions built on systemic racism.

Radical Right extremists are trying to turn back the clock on a century of advances in civil rights, women’s rights, workers’ rights, the social safety net and more… With Donald Trump in the White House, they’re waging an all-out assault on the fundamental pillars of our country – democracy, checks and balances, a fair and independent judicial branch, and core values like fairness, equality, and justice for all.

PFAW is fighting back every day with:

✔ Grassroots organizing
✔ Lobbying and advocacy
✔ Research and education
✔ Voter mobilization
✔ And more…

But we can’t do this vital work without the robust grassroots financial support of our members and activists.

Please help fund the fight for progress and stand against right-wing extremism with an urgently needed donation to PFAW today>>
