Dear john, We're at the halfway point of this month's District Work Period, and I want to share my gratitude to every local leader, organization, and constituent who I've had the chance to connect with while Congress is out of session! Below, I'm sharing some snapshots of my work across the district this week, but first I want to share the news about my ongoing Mobile Office Hours program: On Wednesday, April 23rd from 10 am until 12 pm, members of my team will be at the Lewis A. Ray Library in Smyrna to discuss your concerns and help assist you with any agency casework concerns you may have. In order to accommodate as many people as possible, we ask that you sign up for an appointment time slot using this webform. Once you complete the form, a member of my staff will contact you to confirm your appointment. Please note that appointments are available for current residents of Georgia's Sixth Congressional District only. Stay tuned for new locations across the district throughout the spring and summer! For a look at some of this week's wonderful visits across the district, I've shared a few photos below. To highlight just a few of these engagements: - I hosted the Area Director of the Georgia Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Kennesaw State University to discuss the latest updates in the small business community. The Georgia SBDC continues to be a phenomenal resource for all small business owners across our district and state.
- I met with elected officials from Fayette County, Cobb County, Palmetto, Union City, and Smyrna to discuss Congressionally Directed Spending and Community Project Funding opportunities--these are requests that Senators and Representatives can make on behalf of their states and districts. My office's deadline for FY2026 federal funding requests is this Wednesday, April 23rd--for more information, click here!
- I spent time at the Carl Sanders Family YMCA at Buckhead to say hello to afterschool program participants, visit with leadership from the YMCA of Metro Atlanta, and see firsthand all the wonderful work that is taking place to support such an important resource and community space for so many people across our district.
- I also toured the Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) Headquarters! GPB serves our entire state in so many ways, both for vitally important public safety information, but also education and entertainment for all ages. I was honored to visit with President and CEO Bert Wesley Huffman and many senior leaders from GPB to get a hands-on look at many educational resources that GPB offers students to support their studies of our state and the world around them.
