Friend,
COVID-19 has created an urgency to decarcerate jails and prisons, decriminalize drugs, dignify the health of people who use drugs, and ensure access to effective treatment for those who want it.
During this unprecedented time, a few small steps forward have been taken on critical reforms we’ve long supported even while creating new challenges.
Our series of online discussions about COVID-19 and drug policy [link removed] explores how this pandemic has magnified the war on drugs as a public health crisis, how we can sustain progress, which obstacles still remain, and how we can use the current moment to be more aspirational with our policy agendas.
Please RVSP here to join us for the third conversation “Improving Substance Use Disorder Treatment During and After the COVID-19 Pandemic” which will take place over Zoom this Thursday, June 11 from 2-4pm ET: [link removed]
Access to effective substance use disorder (SUD) treatment has long been out of reach for many. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced treatment providers and clients to limit in-person interaction, reducing longstanding barriers to treatment for some, but increasing challenges for others. Join advocates and allies in the drug policy reform and treatment movements to assess what changes have occurred and how positive reforms can be maintained while addressing remaining challenges to SUD treatment during and after the pandemic. Register here to join the conversation this Thursday: [link removed]
And please mark your calendars and register for the rest of the series:
