Family Day: Military Appreciation

Saturday, May 3, 2025

10 am - 2 pm

________________________________________________________________________

Let’s celebrate, honor and recognize members of our military!

May is Military Appreciation month, a time to pay tribute to the people who serve in all branches of the US military. The Wyoming State Museum will host local military personnel to give families an opportunity to learn, play, and say thank you! Check out tons of military vehicles and tactical equipment from Air Force departments at FE Warren, run an obstacle course, make crafts, and learn the history of national symbols like the bald eagle & the star. Plus, the 67th Army Band is scheduled to play two 1-hour sets at 10am & 12pm. These performances will showcase the entire band, including a Ceremonial Concert section, a Brass Jazz section, a Rock/Country section, and a Woodwind quartet!

Every family that registers for & attends the event will be entered into a raffle to win a Texas Roadhouse Family Pack Dinner worth $49.99!

Did you know that the Wyoming State Museum has two new Geocache activities?!

Geocaching is an activity that involves using a GPS device or smartphone app to find the coordinates of a geocache and then searching for it. We now have a Cache Odyssey [ [link removed] ] container that geocachers can find hidden somewhere in our galleries, as well as a 5-question "Adventure Lab" activity that leads guests on a scavenger hunt through the museum.

Civic Season 2025

Program Schedule Now Available

SAVE THE DATE!!

________________________________________________________________________

July 4th commemorates the moment a new nation was born, based on ideals that each generation since has worked to bring to life:  freedom, equality, justice, and opportunity. Juneteenth, celebrated just a few weeks earlier, reminds us of the struggles and hard-won victories in our ongoing journey to form a “more perfect union.” Civic Season unites our oldest federal holiday with our newest, mobilizing a movement to understand our past and shape our future.

Join the Wyoming State Museum along with a collaborative of local and statewide organizations for a summertime celebration of who we are as a nation, how we got here and where we want to go next.

Creative Blocks: A Community Jenga Project

Thursday, May 29, 5:30 - 7:30 pm

At the Cheyenne Creativity Center

________________________________________________________________________

Looking for a fun, creative way to connect with your community? Join us for a hands-on workshop where we’ll transform plain wooden Jenga blocks into tiny works of art. Whether you paint, doodle, or decorate with markers, your unique blocks will become part of a traveling interactive Jenga game to spark conversations about democracy across Wyoming. This game is part of ""Democracy Under Construction"", a Wyoming Humanities program exploring the history and impact of democracy. Especially the role journalism plays in shaping it.

This free workshop is an opportunity to create, connect, and be part of something bigger. While the Jenga game will be featured during the *Wyoming State Museum’s ""Civic Season""* starting in June, this is a separate chance to contribute and make your mark before then!
