John,

We’ve been sounding the alarm about Trump and MAGA’s plans to take down ActBlue.

Now it’s official:

According to a new Associated Press report, the Trump administration is preparing to use the full force of the federal government to prosecute both ActBlue and Indivisible—a group that’s organizing large protests against the Trump administration across the country.

John, this is no longer about public pressure or political messaging. It’s about destroying the infrastructure of the Democratic party and silencing dissent.

Before we explain what’s happening, we need your help. If you believe in journalism that won’t back down in the face of authoritarian threats, chip in $25 right now to help COURIER report the truth—and reach the people who need to hear it. [[link removed]]

Here’s what we know:

The White House is preparing a formal rescission request to Congress that would trigger criminal investigations into both organizations.

ActBlue has already been forced to turn over documents and send staffers to testify behind closed doors. The group is now preparing for potential FBI and Treasury investigations over allegations that have been repeatedly debunked.

At the same time, Indivisible’s national leadership is working with lawyers to prepare for the possibility that its organizers could face criminal charges simply for organizing peaceful protests.

According to the AP, this follows Trump’s executive order directing the Justice Department to investigate critics and his claim—made publicly—that those who oppose him may be guilty of “treason.”

Trump’s far-right influencer army isn't hiding the intent. Charlie Kirk told supporters he believes the FBI will “do something on ActBlue soon.” Matt Schlapp, one of Trump’s closest confidants, said Democrats “need to get burned” so they don’t try to oppose him again.

John, there has never been a more important moment to support independent media that isn’t afraid to expose these authoritarian attacks.

We are building one of the only grassroots-funded, independent media networks in the country willing to take on the Trump administration with urgency and clarity these times demand.

Chip in $25 or whatever you can to help fund our reporting—and help defend democracy while there’s still time. [[link removed]]
