A code-red crisis is unfolding before our very eyes: Since 1970, we’ve lost three billion birds—one in every four—and the latest data from the 2025 State of the Birds report shows these declines are continuing across all habitats. 112 bird species, including the beloved Allen’s Hummingbird, are at a “Tipping Point,” having lost 50% or more of their populations in the past 50 years and will need focused efforts to be brought back.

Birds can’t ask for your help. So we’re asking for them: Will you make your monthly gift ahead of Earth Day while a special match offer means your first gift will go 2X as far? ([link removed])

If climate change continues unchecked, 64% of the Allen’s Hummingbird’s current breeding range could be lost. But because birds have been telling us for quite some time that we must take action—and because we’ve listened—we’re already protecting vulnerable birds in every landscape where we work. With more than a century of expertise and caring bird lovers like you behind our efforts, we’re giving species a better chance at survival. Together, we’re working for practical, effective solutions to the urgent and interconnected problems of biodiversity loss, habitat destruction and degradation, and climate change—just as we have for decades now.

The birds you love need protection.

* Two-thirds of North American bird species are at increasing risk of extinction from climate change.
* 112 species have experienced steep population losses over the last 50 years.
* You can help reverse these trends—starting now.

But we can do more, and we must while we can still make a difference. So ahead of Earth Day, please join us with a monthly donation while your first gift will go twice as far for birds and their habitats. ([link removed])
Sincerely,
