Dear AFGE Activist,

CLICK HERE to take action to urge Congress to oppose cuts to District of Columbia budget cuts.

Tell Speaker Johnson and urge him to oppose significant cuts to the District of Columbia budget and bring S. 1077, the DC Local Funds Act, to the floor for a vote.

AFGE represents thousands of federal and D.C. government workers who live and work in the District of Columbia. These workers provide critical services to the American public in the District including keeping veterans safe, ensuring legal services are justly delivered, as well as ensuring skies are safe and human health and the environment are protected. But unless the House of Representative acts now, DC will have to reduce its budget by over a billion dollars. These cuts would cause elimination of critical services to DC residents, workers and visitors, including education, trash collection, and law enforcement.

The cuts do not save taxpayers a single penny. Instead, it prevents the District of Columbia from spending resident taxpayer dollars on police officers, teachers, and other critical workers.

AFGE strongly urges Speaker Johnson to put S. 1077 on the suspension calendar and to pass this bill when it comes to the House floor for a vote.

Tell Speaker Johnson to oppose D.C. budget cuts, put S. 1077 on the suspension calendar and support the bill when it comes to the House floor for a vote.

The Senate overwhelmingly voted to save DC from these devastating cuts and President Trump has endorsed the bill. It is time for the House to act.

In Solidarity,

Don’t Delay! It’s Time to Make the Switch to E-Dues
