Johh,

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been asked again and again: What are elected officials doing to stand up to Donald Trump? Here’s my answer: I’m fighting for the health of this country, and I’m doing it with everything I’ve got.

Last month, Trump’s Health and Human Services Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., announced a radical restructuring of the department. The scope of the damage was staggering.

More than 10,000 public health workers were fired. Research into cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s were all halted. And offices for reproductive health were stripped down or eliminated entirely.

All of this is happening while far-right lawmakers escalate their attacks on abortion and while a measles outbreak sweeps the nation. I don't say this lightly Johh, our country is facing a health crisis under the Trump administration. I'm doing everything I can to fight back but I need you with me. Make a donation toward our mid-month goal to support my fight >>

Not only did I write an op-ed for the Washington Post, but I also got up and led a group of Democrats directly to the HHS building to demand a meeting with the Secretary himself.

Once we got there, we waited… and waited… and waited. In the end, RFK Jr. refused to meet with us and take accountability for his attacks on the health of the American people.

This is the level of contempt this administration has for oversight, for science, for public service, and for the very people we've sworn to serve as elected officials. It's the entire playbook for the Trump administration: break the systems Americans depend on and then stay silent as the nation suffers.

That kind of silence is unacceptable — and I will never be complicit in it. I’ll keep raising hell, and if you believe in this fight, I’m asking you to help power it forward by donating toward our mid-month goal today >>
