Dear John,

The Center for Media and Democracy (CMD) has teamed up with faith groups to organize a national cry for freedom tomorrow.

On April 18th 250 years ago, Boston’s Old North Church hung two lanterns from its steeple to warn patriots that the British were coming and set Paul Revere off on his famous ride for freedom. The next morning, area churches rang their bells as an alarm for the patriots as the British troops approached.

This April 18th, houses of worship across the country — and anyone else with a bell — will ring their bells at the start of services that day in solidarity with the Old North Church and to honor America’s historic struggle.

CMD has taken the lead to organize and promote this first annual Let Freedom Ring! action against the ongoing threat of tyranny in America, and we need your help.

Participation in this first annual event has been inspiring. Bells will ring from sea to sea – from a lighthouse in Maine to Boston’s Old North Church, New York City’s Riverside Church, St. Luke’s in Atlanta, the beautiful St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Los Angeles and scores more in between. Some, like the First Parish Church in Gorham, Maine, have actual Revere bells!

Reaching out to faith groups, building the Let Freedom Ring! website, and promoting the event on social media has been expensive, and we need to raise another $5,000 to help livestream the keynote address by renowned historian Heather Cox Richardson at The Old North Church, film the bell ringing at historic churches across the country, and produce a video about this important and timely action.

So please make a tax-deductible gift today to help CMD make Let Freedom Ring! a strong, symbolic cry for keeping America free from tyranny and winning liberty and justice for all.

With hope and gratitude,

Arn H. Pearson
Executive Director
