Here's how I get a move on.
This isn't an article I ever expected to write from personal experience. In fact, I kept putting it off because I was so sure that the mobility issues I was experiencing were short-term.
But part of accepting it is sharing what I've learned. And albeit grudgingly, I've learned a lot.
A lot about vulnerability. A lot about feeling unsafe. A lot about how this world was not designed for folks like me.
Now my goal is to overcome those things and make my life as full as possible. I thought a good place to start would be with the mobility aids that are helping me take back a sense of normalcy. I'm new to this and I haven't tried out every single one. But I do have some recommendations to help if you (or a loved one) are facing similar challenges.
The suggestions in this article are what have worked for me so far.

Also, just an aside - it's SO HARD to find photos of people using mobility aids who aren't elderly. I just want you to know that there are LOTS of us under 60 years old out there, even if the pictures online and the headings on Amazon don't reflect it!
Do you have a mobility aid that you swear by? Have you had any luck with the ones mentioned in this article? Please share your recommendations and thoughts in the comments section.
Stay safe.
Be happy.
