Greenlanders Respond to Trump

Holly Williams / CBS News (New York)

Two thousand miles north of Washington, in Greenland’s capital, Nuuk, they’re watching with anxiety and anger. Aaja Chemnitz, one of Greenland’s representatives in Denmark’s Parliament, said, “If we were to be American, it would mean that we would lose our language. We would lose a culture.”

__________

Nigeria Heats Up

Baba Aye / Links (Sydney)

This is for us to draw lessons from them so that we can be better prepared and more strategically oriented and thus able to deepen incoming mass storms of revolts towards revolution. The three milestones of mass struggle in 21st century Nigeria have been the #OccupyNigeria January Uprising in 2012, #EndSARS Rebellion in 2020 and the #EndBadGovernance/#EndHunger protests in 2024.

__________

In different temporal and spatial realities, in moments of social upheaval, societies begin to move and self-organize. Nowadays the institutional expression of this rebellious creativity is carried by social movements around the world when resisting injustice. We witness it also in the Balkans, where a particular grassroots institution persistently makes its appearance at every major upheaval – plenums.

The Brussels Solidarity with Ukraine conference on March 26–27 drew together about 200 activists from a score of countries. __________
South Korean Youth

Park Hyun-jung and Chung In-seon / Hankyoreh (Seoul)

Witnessing and participating in the mass protests that fostered broad solidarity and led to the impeachment of Yoon Suk-yeol, has spurred many young Koreans, especially women and LGBTQ+ Koreans, to become interested in labor organizing and political engagement.

__________
Quebec Left Looks Ahead

Bernard Rioux / Socialist Project (Toronto)

The ecosocialist and ecofeminist left must oppose an electoralist strategy for building a government party claiming to be realistic. Instead it should aim to build power in society by strengthening democratic expression, combativeness, and unity of different anti-systemic social movements. This approach, both to the social left and to Québec solidaire, aims to rally a popular majority.
