John,
Since losing the 2020 election, Donald Trump has relentlessly pushed dangerous election lies and conspiracy theories about widespread voter fraud to sow distrust in our democracy.
Last week, House Republicans doubled down and passed the so-called “SAVE Act,” a voter suppression bill that requires voters to show proof of citizenship in person in order to register to vote, despite the fact that non-citizens are already prohibited from voting in American elections.
This bill would disenfranchise millions of eligible voters, including troops serving overseas, Native Americans, women whose married name doesn’t match their birth certificates, and disabled people.
|
Not only that, but when Emerge alum Rep. Maxine Dexter (OR-03) introduced an amendment to ensure that the 69 million women voters who changed their name after marriage would not be harmed by this bill because their birth certificates would not match their current legal name, House Republicans blocked it!
It’s clear that this bill isn’t about election security – it’s about silencing voters.
Emerge women are using every tool at their disposal to protect our most fundamental right to vote! We’re training the next class of Emerge women to run bold, community-driven campaigns and join our alums in office on the frontlines so we can defend the right to vote for ALL Americans!
Will you activate your 2025 membership and renew your support for Emerge women so we can fight back and protect our democracy?
