TEACHERS UNIFY TO END GUN VIOLENCE LOGO
Hi John, it’s Kiki Leyba. In a moment I’m going to ask you to chip in and support Teachers Unify to End Gun Violence, but first I’m going to explain why this organization matters so much to me.

My family survived one of the most infamous school shootings – and then survived another.

I was a first-year teacher at Columbine High School when thirteen people were killed and dozens more injured. Barely a decade later, we were traumatized again when a man opened fire at my son’s school.

These became benchmark days in my life: When the unthinkable struck twice, and I realized that supporting others traumatized by school violence was my calling.

I’ve worked with many communities to navigate the complex aftermath of campus violence. That’s how I found Teachers Unify To End Gun Violence. Their mission of elevating the voices of educators and school staff in the gun violence prevention space is critical for the fight for safer schools – and critical for people like me.

People like me who never thought about leaving our jobs, because our job – taking care of our students – is still unfinished.

As educators, school staff, and community members, we all have unfinished work: fighting for change so that yet another student doesn’t have to endure years of trauma. Together, we can take back our power and make a difference for our kids and our future.

That’s where you come in, John.
We’re fighting hard for change, but we’re teachers, not fundraisers and can’t take on the gun lobby or change the status quo without your help.

So I have to ask: Can you chip in $25 today to support Teachers Unify To End Gun Violence? We need you with us in our fight for safer schools – trust me. >>
