In January, Governor Newsom announced a proposal to split the Business, Consumer Services, and Housing Agency into two new agencies, including a California Housing and Homelessness Agency (CHHA), which has the potential to streamline housing funding and provide more transparency to housing funding programs.

ICYMI: Last week, AB 736 (Wicks) passed out of the first Assembly Housing Committee! AB 736, better known as The 2026 Affordable Housing Bond Act, would place a $10 billion affordable housing bond on the November 2026 ballot to fund affordable housing development for the following four years.

HUD Funding Restored Last Week, Enterprise Community Partners and LISC Bay Area shared that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has reinstated their Section 4 Capacity Building for Community Development and Affordable Housing Program funding following a successful appeal. This is a much-needed outcome for both our local partners and for those working on affordable housing nationwide, as we continue to advance and defend affordable housing and community development initiatives.
