Washington, DC | www.mpac.org | – April 16, 2025 — The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) condemns in the strongest terms the recent antisemitic arson attempt at the residence of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. The attack occurred while the Governor, his family, and guests were observing the Passover holiday—a time of reflection and spiritual significance. We are grateful that no one was harmed and extend our full support and solidarity to the Shapiro family and the broader Jewish community.
Early reports indicate that the suspect cited grievances related to the treatment of Palestinians as part of his motive. MPAC unequivocally rejects any attempt to justify violence in the name of justice. The cause of Palestinian human rights—a cause rooted in principles of justice, dignity, and international law—must never be used to excuse or enable acts of hate or terror. We are especially disturbed by any rhetoric or behavior that seeks to link this noble struggle with antisemitism.
Antisemitism is a real threat facing the Jewish community and our nation. As American Muslims, we understand the pain of being targeted and vilified, and we stand with our Jewish brothers and sisters in rejecting hate in all its forms. Our advocacy must always reflect our values—mercy, justice, and the sanctity of human life.
This attack not only endangered lives, but also undermines the spirit of democratic engagement and peaceful advocacy that drives lasting change. We must remain vigilant against efforts to divide our communities and politicize our real grievances; instead we must rededicate ourselves to building understanding, fostering dialogue, and working toward a world where all people live with dignity and security.
