I’m Amy Waldron. I’m a board member for Make-A-Wish® America, I’m a WishMaker® and I’m a Wish Mom.
This Wish Wednesday, I’m reaching out because of two very special anniversaries: World Wish Month™, and the fourth anniversary of my daughter’s heart transplant. Both mean the world to me, because my daughter was once a wish kid waiting for a new heart … and new hope.
Thinking about life beyond medical procedures is exactly what these wish kids need. It’s very depressing and exhausting when your entire life is spent thinking about the next doctor’s appointment or how bad you’re going to feel after chemotherapy or surgery.
If a kid knows there’s something beyond that, it makes it a little bit more tolerable … that this is maybe just a phase of their life. Maybe this isn’t their entire life.
You can read more about my daughter Isabella and her wish here. Thank you for being a WishMaker.
