Dear John,
"I was terrified."
Those were Tamara's words when she learned she was pregnant. As a Black woman, her fears weren't unfounded. Black women like Tamara are three times more likely to die of pregnancy-related causes than white women — a statistic that represents real lives, real families, and real fears.
Thanks to your generous support, Tamara’s future is brighter. Will you consider renewing your support and helping other Black mothers?
We've set a goal of raising $5,000 by April 17 during Black Maternal Health Week — enough to provide doulas to 75 Black mothers in under-resourced communities. Will you help? |
Everything changed when Tamara was 8 months along. Start Early matched her with a doula who became her lifeline - checking on her weekly, helping with her birth plan, and staying by her side when her baby arrived.
This kind of support is typically out of reach for Black mothers like Tamara, but it changed everything for her.
Today, where there was once fear, Tamara now has confidence. Where she once felt isolated, she now has a support network. This transformation is what your renewed support makes possible for other Black mothers.
Thanks to support from people like you, Tamara is now raising a child who'll be ready for whatever comes next. This is the support every mom deserves, but not everybody gets - especially Black mothers who need it most.
Will you make a renewal gift to support other Black moms like Tamara during Black Maternal Health Week? Help us reach our goal of $5,000 by April 17. |
Thank you for creating a future where Black mothers face pregnancy with confidence, not terror.
Johanna Vetter
Start Early
P.S. As funding cuts for critical programs escalate, individual support from people like you has become even more important. Please, renew your support by midnight April 17 and help us provide essential tools to families when they need them most. |
