Those were Tamara's words when she learned she was pregnant. As a Black woman, her fears weren't unfounded. Black women like Tamara are three times more likely to die of pregnancy-related causes than white women — a statistic that represents real lives, real families, and real fears.

This kind of support is typically out of reach for Black mothers like Tamara, but it changed everything for her.
