George Floyd’s murder was a tragedy. We must do everything in our power to ensure justice is served and make sure this never happens again. 

But the left’s radical call to “defund the police” will only embolden dangerous criminals, terrorists, and extremist groups like Antifa. The police are here to help our communities and have been working around the clock to keep peaceful protestors safe. 

We cannot let radical politicians “dismantle” police departments and put more lives at risk. 

Defunding police departments would only result in more violence, more destruction, and anarchy. It would hurt the very communities that this rallying cry is purportedly intended to help. We cannot compound this tragedy with more tragedies. 

We must support the men and women in law enforcement who put their lives on the line every day to protect us. We must make sure they have the resources needed to keep us safe. They put themselves at risk daily to defend Americans against the violence wrought by Antifa and other bad actors who would seek to do our communities harm. 

Men and women in uniform keep us safe every single day. We must prosecute bad cops who abuse their authority, but ending police brutality means holding bad actors accountable — not defunding the police. 

That’s why Kelly is introducing legislation that protects our police department’s budgets from the dangerous and radical policies being advocated for by the left. Our public officials should make Americans safer and Kelly’s proposed legislation will do just that.
