Voters, not politicians, should decide our elections.

Jamaal Bowman’s opponent Eliot Engel is right about one thing. In this country, voters get to decide who represents them.

“This is not a dictatorship. This is a democracy. We shouldn’t have one person from high, even though she’s a colleague of mine, think she can anoint whoever’s elected.”
             - Rep. Eliot Engel (NY-16)

Rep. Engel’s comment came after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez endorsed his primary challenger, Brand New Congress candidate Jamaal Bowman.

In the height of irony, Engel happily accepted the endorsement of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. On top of that, he touts endorsements from Chuck Schumer, Kirsten Gillibrand, and dozens of other establishment Democrats.

Engel is just fine with representatives making endorsements, as long as it’s not a progressive powerhouse like AOC supporting his challenger!

That’s not all. Just last week Engel was caught on a hot mic when asked about the Black Lives Matter movement saying, “If I didn’t have a primary, I wouldn’t care.”

We know this is true. Every election season, establishment Democrats pretend to be progressive, making empty promises to voters. Once in office, they rarely vote in line with their promises, but they sure get in line with their corporate donors. That’s why we primary them! That’s why Jamaal can win!

Engel’s in the hot seat, he’s feeling the pressure, and we know Jamaal has a real chance at taking this seat! Can you pitch in right now so we can help Jamaal win this primary?

Even Nancy Peolsi herself has spoken against challenging incumbents. But, isn’t that what primaries are for? If representatives aren’t using their seat for good, it’s the VOTER’s right to make a change.

In his 16 terms in office, (that’s right, SIXTEEN terms), Engel has cowered to corporate and lobbyist pressure. Done their bidding. He’s not sponsored or co-sponsored any legislation geared toward real change, and his constituents know it.

No one will be anointed to the NY-16 seat. They must earn it. And Jamaal Bowman is working hard to make sure every voter in his district knows they don’t need to settle for two more years of the status quo.

Can you pitch in right now and help Jamaal retire Rep. Engel?
