Tonight: DC Emancipation Day Speak Out

Today is DC Emancipation Day, a day that commemorates the signing of the Compensated Emancipation Act in 1862 which abolished slavery in DC. It is also a day to celebrate the courage and struggle of individuals who have fought for freedom, and how this work is still needed now.

As part of this year’s celebration, tonight we are co-hosting "DC Emancipation Day Speak Out: Standing Together to Fight the Power," a discussion on protecting Home Rule, saving federal jobs, and investing in local DC communities.
