There are a few things we throw big Military parades for in the United States.

Winning a global conflict with fascism, for instance.

Or defeating Sadam Hussein and liberating Kuwait.

Fourth of July, you’ll get some of the Troops showing up in your local parade

They’ll be around for Memorial Day as well, to honor the fallen.

The United States Military does not march in parades to honor any elected office, or any person. The United States Military marches for the American people, their comrades in arms, and the country they serve.

A Military parade is something special.

In some cases it’s a celebration of victory — the victory of democracy over tyranny, liberation over repression. In others it is to celebrate our nation — the ideals we stand for, the things our forefathers fought for, the future we hope for. It allows a grateful nation to remember the men and women who gave their lives for freedom, too.

A Military parade is NOT a birthday gift for a dictator bent on destroying everything the Military fought for. And we’ll be damned if we’re going to let Trump turn the finest armed forces in the world into his toy without fighting back.
