REAL ID is a set of national security standards for states to follow when they issue driver's licenses and state ID cards.
After May 7, 2025, you won't be able to board a US commercial flight using a driver's license or state ID card that is not a REAL ID. REAL ID will also be required to access certain federal facilities.
A REAL ID is not required to vote in any state. However, we are already seeing confusion about what type of ID is required in some states to vote.
We also know that the influx of people seeking a REAL ID will create backlogs at ID-issuing offices, which will make it harder for people who need an ID to vote to get appointment times.
The best thing to do right now is spread the word with accurate, trusted information. Share our REAL ID page and refer anyone you know who needs help with ID paperwork or appointments to VoteRiders for support.

P.S. A REAL ID is not required to vote in any state, however, we know that the confusion and the increased demand for ID-issuing services will create challenges for those who do need an ID to vote. You can help us meet this wave of increased demand with a donation today.
