I’ll be honest with you: the current legislative session could go either way for us, and either way it will be historic. Either Oregon will decide to reclaim our status as a climate leader right when this nation needs it the most, or we’ll see critical climate and energy programs get gutted here in Oregon (just like unelected billionaires are doing at the federal level) at the worst possible moment.

Legislators need to hear from community members like you as they decide the fate of bills and state investments aimed at lowering energy bills, strengthening climate resilience in communities across Oregon, and more. You’re exclusively invited to attend the upcoming Building Resilience Lobby Day to tell our elected officials it’s time to step up for us, our neighbors and our climate. You're an OLCV member. As leading partners in the Building Resilience campaign, OLCV gave me permission to invite you to advocate at the State Capitol with us on Wednesday, May 7th!

WHAT: Building Resilience Community Lobby Day

WHEN: Wednesday, May 7th, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm 

WHERE: State Capitol in Salem, OR

Lunch and light breakfast will be provided.

You’re invited because I know you care about this, and I think you want to do more to make sure Oregon leads the way. Whether you're experienced or this would be your first time visiting Salem all you need to do is sign up and show up and we’ll do the rest. We’ll pair you with an experienced guide and train you on how to be a community lobbyist. We’ll schedule meetings with your elected officials for you; and provide you with all the information you need for a successful visit. RSVP by Monday, April 30th to secure a spot!

As a reminder, this is our chance to fight to protect funding for:

1. Ensure Oregonians can heat and cool their homes affordably – without having to choose between keeping the lights on or putting food on the table:

• $30 million for Rental Home Heat Pump Program
• $15 million for Community Heat Pump Deployment Program
• Fund One Stop Shop 2.0 to help people get direct assistance from someone in their area to make their home resilience upgrades more affordable.

2. Ensure our communities are prepared for extreme weather events:

• $10 million for Community Resilience Hubs and networks across the state to coordinate and provide access to resources and services during disasters.
