Friend, meet Rone.

She's 7 – and I’m proud to say she’s named in honor of Tyrone Woods, my fellow warrior who died next to me in Benghazi in 2012.

It will never come easy to talk about being abandoned by our government, twice.

Once for 13 hours in Benghazi, and again after I returned home without pay.

My recovery process was long, costly and excruciating. I underwent 14 surgeries, primarily as a result of the shrapnel I took in my arms, neck and legs.

The physical recovery is just half of the battle, however. The other half was mental, but I got there, and Rone played a huge part in that.

This dog helped to bring me genuine healing and a new sense of purpose which I’ve channeled into helping other warriors facing similar challenges.

Bonding a veteran with a service K9, and watching them train and grow together is an amazing thing to be a part of, and that’s why it’s such a big focus of ours at Shadow Warriors Project.

Most military contractors, or “shadow warriors,” serve in classified programs for our government, and it's easy for them to be forgotten about.

Having been through it myself, I refuse to sit back when I have the power to help these warriors and their families who've given so much.

So here's my challenge for you today – make a tax-deductible donation, and empower us to bring healing, financial assistance and service K-9s to those who truly need and deserve it.

Thanks for your time, and I hope we can count on your support.

Semper Fi,
Mark "Oz" Geist
