1 in 4 San Diegans could lose their health coverage soon.
As you may know, Congress is poised to cut Medicaid funding. These cuts would have devastating effects on every single person, particularly working people, seniors, and young people.
Medicaid cuts would hurt all of us. Beyond the 900,000 San Diegans who rely on Medi-cal for health coverage, these cuts could weaken our County’s behavioral health services, homelessness and housing solutions, and food and economic security programs.
The good news is that we have the resources to help tackle this crisis. San Diego County has a wide network of community partners, nonprofits, and organizations actively working to soften the blow on our families, communities, and neighbors if these cuts happen.
As your Supervisor, I am working every day to make our County the center of collaboration, bringing these partners together to reinvent our systems. We are not just fighting, but leading.
But while our networks will offer some relief, they aren’t enough to meet all of our needs. That’s why we’ll need our partners at every level of government joining us in this fight to protect our systems from these devastating cuts, starting with Congress.
