On January 8th, the start of the legislative session in Maryland, we were in a tough spot. Maryland was faced with two storms: a budget crisis that was the worst one since the Great Depression, and an incoming federal administration ready to tear things apart. On January 20th, the Trump administration took office, and chaos ensued. He began signing executive order after order that hurt our federal workers, economy, and more. We spent the past three months strategizing and coming up with solutions for some of Maryland’s toughest issues. To tackle the sense of uncertainty that we all were feeling headfirst. Now that the legislative session is over, we’re getting back into the swing of things. I signed multiple bills into law last week to strengthen Maryland’s economy and protect our middle class. This legislation targets our workforce, making sure that we have a workforce who reflect the diversity and talent of Maryland. We’re going to open up all sectors of the Maryland economy so that every person has a fair shot at success. Because winning this decade means that everyone thrives. To make efforts of this magnitude successful, we can’t just pass legislation. We need support from far and wide. It’s people like you who drive our ability to organize within our communities. John, in order to serve Marylanders best, we need the resources to power our work. Will you chip in $10
Just because the legislative session is over doesn’t mean our work is over yet. There are still bills to sign, constituents to meet with, and more to do in 2025 and beyond. Elevate, Wes |
