Research Update: Marijuana and Opioids

Making marijuana more available might appear to be a solution to the current drug crisis in our nation. More research is needed to fully comprehend this complex issue, and to develop new interventions and treatments for addiction. Decades of existing research findings should serve as the foundation of policy decisions. A more critical look at the current research evidence suggests that prescribing marijuana may not have the positive effect on opioid use disorder that others are claiming.
