Hi
there,
Thousands of federal workers are being abruptly fired — and lawyers have the power to do something about it. That’s why today, We The Action is launching the Federal Workers Legal Defense Network in partnership with the AFL-CIO, Democracy Forward, and a coalition of labor and democracy organizations to mobilize our community of volunteer lawyers to meet this unprecedented moment.
A few weeks ago, we launched the Public Service Legal Response Center to recruit and train volunteers in support of federal workers. Since then, more than 800 lawyers have joined the effort! The Response Center will now power the newly announced Federal Workers Legal Defense Network, expanding our impact even further.
The Federal Workers Legal Defense Network will bring together thousands of lawyers to fight alongside federal workers and get them the justice they deserve. This morning, we were excited to announce the Network with a piece in the New York Times.
Federal workers are the heart of our government, and they ensure that the critical services we all rely on run smoothly. Now it’s our turn to make sure that they get the justice they deserve in the wake of these reckless and unjust actions.
That’s where you come in. Will you be one of the first 500 new lawyers to join the Federal Workers Legal Defense Network today?
Lawyers who join the Legal Defense Network will provide short screening conversations and one-hour pro bono consultations, with a library of resources available to help federal workers navigate their cases. Lawyers who don’t have a background in federal labor or employment law will receive free training through the Legal Defense Network. You can volunteer from anywhere, and you have control over how much time you spend and how many federal workers you support.
