Dear team:

Democracy Summer has been the heart and soul of my political campaigns since I ran for State Senate 20 years ago. We figured out a way to get young people—including my three kids and a dozen nieces and nephews and friends—involved through a mixture of politics, academic seminars and community action.

Democracy Summer is now a nationwide fellowship program which has taught thousands of high school, college and apprentice-aged students not only state-of-the-art tactics in voter registration and Democratic political organizing but the dynamic history of American political and social change and the struggle to defend democracy today.

If you know a true-blue young Democrat interested in the political organizing and learning opportunity of a lifetime, please forward them this email and encourage them to apply by our priority deadline of Friday, April 18th! Students can scroll to find their partner campaign or submit our general application to participate as a virtual Scholar.

Democracy Summer expanded nationally for the first time in 2021 in an historic partnership with the DCCC and campaigns of Democratic Members—and in 2024, more than 110 House Democratic campaigns across America joined Democracy Summer to recruit a new generation of political activists and leaders.

In 2024, we trained over 1,000 Democracy Summer Fellows in 45 states in a full-blown curriculum on the struggle to defend democracy and freedom led by policy experts and political leaders like Marc Elias, Rep. Bennie Thompson, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Rep. Nikema Williams, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi and many more.

Now in 2025, a time of fanatical extremism and authoritarian politics at the highest levels of government, we are excited to welcome back Democracy Summer veterans across the country and to partner with a bunch of exciting new campaigns. For young people committed to protecting American democracy, this will be an unforgettable summer of political activism, community organizing and personal growth.

If you want to support the DCCC, which has been working to expand our program year after year and engaging in the critical work to win back the House in 2026, please send in a contribution using the link below!
