John,
I’m so thankful to have you with us. You transform the lives of suffering animals across the nation, and I want to show you the difference you’ve made for just one of these animals — a pig we now call Gabriel.
When we found Gabriel, he could barely breathe. He was lying in his own waste, had a fever and struggled to stand. His water bowl was empty, and his food was rotting next to him. But thankfully, this gentle pig’s future was about to change.
With you beside us, the Animal Legal Defense Fund filed — and won — a lawsuit to shut down several illegal Florida-based backyard slaughter operations where Gabriel was suffering along with 112 other animals, all awaiting a gruesome fate. |
|
An undercover investigation had revealed extreme cruelty at these slaughter operations — including animals being skinned alive, conscious animals being dragged to slaughter by their heads, tails, and ears, and animals being deprived of food, water, and veterinary care to the point of starvation.
But because of your support and our lawsuit, we were granted a court order to remove all the farmed animals on the properties. Working with Farm Sanctuary and local law enforcement, we coordinated the rescue of 46 ducks, 55 chickens, three sheep, five goats, two pigs, a goose, and a pony in April 2020.
Safe from harm, these animals are now in sanctuaries that will provide them with the love and care that they deserve. I hope you’ll take a minute to watch Gabriel’s video to see your support in action. We are so grateful for the happy ending you’ve helped provide for these animals, and for your commitment to fighting animal cruelty alongside us.
Thank you. |
For the animals,
|
