I grew up wrestling across Pennsylvania. I know firsthand the blood, sweat,
and tears that wrestlers have to pour into this sport is spellbinding.

So when I watched those incredible athletes step up to the mat in
Philadelphia, I was reminded of the lessons I learned from wrestling, and how
they have impacted me even to this day.

During my senior year at West Point, I was tested. I was the captain of the
U.S. Army’s wrestling team and I blew out my knee and had to finish the season
with a torn ACL. Working through that injury and leading the team as team
captain while performing on the mat was a real challenge.

But I’m no stranger to challenges. I’ve been challenged and tested my entire
life. I’ve learned from the victories and the defeats on the mat, on the
battlefield, and now in the U.S. Senate.

As we speak, I’m fighting to lower costs for families, unleash American
energy, make our communities safer, and ensure every citizen has the
opportunity to achieve their version of the American Dream.
