Mann.House.Gov Voting to Pass President Trump's Agenda On November 5, 2024, 77 million Americans gave Washington a mandate to get our country back on track. I voted to pass H. Con. Res. 14, the House budget resolution that sets revenue and spending targets for fiscal years 2026 through 2036 and begins the budget reconciliation process to implement President Trump’s legislative agenda. The budget resolution passed by the House instructs our committees to find savings for the American taxpayer, finish the border wall, make America safe again, invest in and bolster our national defense, unleash American energy dominance, and most importantly, prevent taxpayers from seeing an average tax hike of $2,200 next January. I was proud to advance this legislation and set the stage for delivering the one big, beautiful bill the American people have asked for. I look forward to working with my committees in the coming weeks to identify even more savings and finish the job. Delivering the President's Agenda Strengthening U.S. Election Integrity Only U.S. citizens should vote in U.S. elections. Period. I voted to pass H.R. 22, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which would require proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. Integrity in our elections is the bedrock of our democracy, and Americans deserve to know that our elections are safe and secure. After President Biden refused to enforce the law at our borders, the least Congress can do is strengthen election security and prevent illegal immigrants from voting. These are the commonsense policies America voted for in November, and I was proud to advance this bill. Read More Here Fighting to Lower Taxes for Kansas Families Today is Tax Day. This serves as a friendly reminder that today is the last day to file your taxes or request an extension to file. If you need assistance or resources for filing your taxes, you can find guidance at irs.gov. Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to advance a budget resolution which would make the 2017 tax cuts permanent and prevent Kansas families from seeing an average tax increase of $2,200 dollars. After navigating four years of economic uncertainty under President Biden, President Trump and the Republican majorities in the House and Senate are working relentlessly to lower taxes for Kansas families and get our fiscal house back in order. Getting our Country Back on Track There is a lot going on in our nation as we approach President Trump’s 100th day in office. I joined Troy Coverdale on KMAN Radio to talk about some of the most important issues facing our country from President Trump’s leadership securing the southern border, to reining in wasteful spending and making President Trump’s tax cuts permanent. If you didn’t get the chance to tune into our conversation, you can listen to the full discussion here. Making Our Nation's Roads Safer Last week, I reintroduced the End Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) Act alongside Rep. Chris Pappas. This bill encourages states to adopt a national ignition interlock standard by requiring first-time intoxicated driving offenders to use an ignition interlock device for six months—a proven, life-saving measure that reduces repeat offenses by as much as 70%. The United States loses an average of 37 Americans each day to intoxicated driving. Implementing this standard nationwide will make our roads safer and protect innocent lives from preventable harm. I'm proud to lead this effort to end drunk driving and ensure families across the country don’t have to endure the heartbreak of losing a loved one to impaired driving. Keeping Roads Safe Receiving FRC Values Award and Catching Up with Tony Perkins The Family Research Council is one of the leading voices in Washington for protecting faith, family, and freedom—values that are foundational to our country and to the Big First District. This week, I was honored to receive the FRC Action Award after earning a 100% score on their congressional scorecard, recognizing my commitment to defending life, standing up for religious liberty, and advancing conservative values in the U.S. House of Representatives. Following the award presentation, I had the opportunity to sit down with FRC President Tony Perkins for a conversation about what’s happening in Washington—from securing our southern border and protecting the integrity of our elections, to passing President Trump’s agenda through the budget process. I'm grateful for the work FRC is doing to ensure our nation’s most fundamental values are represented in Congress. You can click below to listen to the full episode. Supporting American Agricultural Producers Last week, I reintroduced the bipartisan, bicameral Farmers First Fuel Incentives Act with Rep. Marcy Kaptur to ensure American tax incentives benefit American farmers and domestic feedstocks. Our bill would restrict eligibility for the 45Z Clean Fuel Production Credit to renewable fuels made from domestically sourced feedstocks and extend the credit through 2034. While foreign feedstocks can play a role in renewable fuel production, they should not displace harvest grown right in our backyard. American farmers work hard to feed and fuel the world, and our tax code should reward their grit—not prop up feedstocks grown overseas. Farmer First Fuel Incentive Act Decreasing Inflation and Lowering Gas Prices Last week’s Consumer Price Index report showed inflation falling to its lowest level in six months, with overall prices dropping for the first time since May 2020 and gas prices hitting a four-year low. After years of runaway spending, burdensome regulations, and weak energy policy under the Biden administration, Americans are finally seeing signs of relief under President Trump. This is what happens when you restore fiscal responsibility to the nation's capital, unleash American energy production, and put the needs of working families first. Promises made, promises kept. 2025 Congressional Art Competition Each spring, my office sponsors a districtwide high school art competition to recognize the artistic talent in the Big First District. The winning artwork of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington, D.C. will include the winning artwork from all participating districts around the country. This year's theme for the competition is Kansas, the Land That I Love. For more information on the rules, requirements, and deadlines for the competition, please click below or visit my website. 2025 Art Competition Meetings in the Office North American Equipment Dealers Association Farm equipment and machinery have reshaped the way America’s farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers can feed, clothe, and fuel the world. I met with the North American Equipment Dealers Association to discuss the importance of tax provisions like the 199A deduction and the bonus depreciation tax incentive that supports America’s agricultural community. We also talked about the importance of extending President Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Thanks for stopping by and for all you do to support Kansas agriculture! Western Kansas Chambers of Commerce Western Kansas is a special place. I met with the Chambers of Commerce from Dodge City, Hays, Liberal, and Garden City to talk about the challenges and opportunities facing communities across western Kansas and a wide range of priorities, including rural health care and housing, transportation and energy infrastructure, and broadband and workforce development. I also appreciated their input on how federal policy can better support the growth of local businesses and long-term economic development. Western Kansas plays an essential role in feeding, fueling, and clothing the world. That’s why we need a five-year, comprehensive Farm Bill that invests in trade promotion, expands crop insurance, and delivers certainty to farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers in rural communities like ours. Western Kansas is home to hardworking men and women who know what it takes to build strong communities. Thank you to the leaders from Dodge City, Hays, Liberal, and Garden City for all you do for Western Kansas. See you soon! National Beer Wholesalers Association Beverage distribution throughout Kansas provides our state with jobs, supports small businesses, and is a significant contributor to local economies across the Big First. I met with the National Beer Wholesalers Association to talk about the importance of extending President Trump’s tax cuts, the need for clear and unbiased federal guidance, and strong state-based regulations. Distributors help power our economy, and I’m grateful for their work in Kansas communities. Thanks for the meeting! United States Auto Club I spoke with the United States Auto Club about the impact motorsports have on Kansas economies and American culture. We discussed the importance of preserving tax provisions that support racetrack investments and the need to make the seven-year cost recovery period permanent. Racing is a proud tradition in many communities across the Big First and Kansas, and I appreciated the conversation about how we can keep that tradition strong for future generations. Kansas Bankers Association Kansas Bankers Association is an advocate for financial institutions and banking customers across our state. During their visit to Washington, D.C., we discussed how Congress can strengthen rural lending, protect consumer choice, and support economic growth across the Big First. We also talked about a range of issues—from ag credit conditions and the Farm Bill to regulatory reform and tax policy that empowers local banks to serve their communities. Kansas banks play a vital role in supporting families, small businesses, and producers in the Big First District. Thanks for all you do to serve Kansans well! Plastics Industry Association I met with Kansas members of the Plastics Industry Association about their work to strengthen American manufacturing, promote sustainability, and support workforce development across the plastics supply chain. We discussed the importance of fair trade policies, tax structures that encourage domestic investment, and an all-of-the-above energy strategy. It was a productive conversation about how we can balance economic growth with responsible environmental stewardship. Thanks for coming in and meeting with me! KU & K-State Athletics It’s not every day that K-State and KU Athletics are championing the same issues, but we were able to put the rivalry aside during College Sports Day on the Hill to discuss the future of collegiate sports. We talked about the need for clear, uniform federal standards around name, image, and likeness (NIL) that support student athletes while preserving the integrity of college sports. As Congress continues to evaluate proposals on NIL, it's important that any legislation considered protects student-athletes and institutions from unnecessary legal exposure and preserves the traditional framework of college athletics. I appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from Kansas programs about what’s at stake for athletes, schools, and fans. StormFisher Hydrogen StormFisher Hydrogen has made significant investments in Kansas for the future of hydrogen-derived fuels like e-Methanol and e-Methane. Their plans to build three facilities—including two in Southwest Kansas and one in Southeast Kansas—will bring over 100 full-time jobs to the Big First, generate significant economic investment, and add over a gigawatt of renewable energy capacity that stays right here in our state. Projects like these are a win for rural communities and keep Kansas at the forefront of our all-of-the-above energy strategy. Thanks for meeting with me! Midwest Airtraffic Control Services Midwest Air Traffic Control helps keep our skies and passengers safe. During our meeting, we discussed the challenges facing contract towers and the need for the FAA to honor its obligations under the Federal Contract Tower Program. We also discussed their work to expand the pipeline of qualified air traffic controllers through new training partnerships. Contract towers keep our skies safe and airports running efficiently, and federal policy must support their mission instead of standing in their way. Thank you for meeting with me! American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges The Big First is home to the crown jewels of the animal health corridor. I spoke with the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges about the importance of supporting animal health research and veterinarians who serve rural and agricultural communities. We discussed the Rural Veterinary Workforce Act, which would provide targeted tax relief to help recruit and retain veterinarians in areas like the Big First. Veterinarians are at the forefront of animal health, food safety, and the success of agricultural economies around the country. Thank you, American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges, for all you do to train and equip the next generation of veterinarians. North American Millers Association I spoke with the North American Millers Association about the role American-milled products play in feeding people around the world and ways to strengthen food aid programs to ensure they continue to rely on American-grown commodities. I also shared an update on my bill, H.R. 1207, which would transfer the Food for Peace program from USAID to USDA—putting it in the hands of the agency best equipped to support our farmers and deliver results. Thanks, North American Millers Association, for all you do to support our farmers and agricultural producers! Crop Insurance and Reinsurance Bureau I met with the Crop Insurance and Reinsurance Bureau to discuss the continued importance of a strong, reliable crop insurance system for America’s farmers and ranchers. We talked about the need to protect and strengthen the Federal Crop Insurance Program and preserve private sector delivery. As Congress works toward a five-year, comprehensive Farm Bill, it’s critical that crop insurance remains a central part of our ag safety net and continues to serve the producers who feed the world.
